When Joe visits his sharp-tongued grandmother Lynnie at her crumbling Essex park home, he arrives carrying news that will change her life.

Recently widowed and facing an uncertain future, Lynnie has become a growing concern to her family, and Joe fears the fiercely independent woman who raised him may no longer be safe living alone. But before he can tell her why he has come, Lynnie has something to tell him: she is Marilyn Monroe, who faked her death in 1962 and has been hiding in Essex ever since.

Convinced his grandmother is losing her mind, Joe tries to dismiss her extraordinary confession — until glimpses of a hidden past begin to complicate everything he thought he knew about her. As certainty gives way to doubt, Joe must decide whether Lynnie’s story is evidence of a mind beginning to unravel or a truth she has waited a lifetime to tell.

Darkly funny, tender and deliberately ambiguous, Hello Norma Jeane is an intimate story about memory, identity and the terror of becoming invisible - and about what happens when the person you love most asks not to be believed, but simply to be heard.

Hello Norma Jeane is based on Dylan Costello's play of the same name that had two runs in London in 2014 and 2016.
